3D HD TV

Television of the future is getting ever closer.  April 2010 has marked the release of 3D HD TV sets in the United Kingdom and around the world.  The biggest question besides what do you need to buy and how do you get programming for the 3D TV is what will it mean for the next decade?

Whether you are ready to upgrade to 3D television with HD capability or not it is here, and the future is more than just movies being released in 3D.  In fact you might have already noticed that any 3D movie in the theatres is now being released on DVD with a 3D side.  Not only is the television industry making it easy to see the 3 dimensional images at home, but so are companies like Blu-Ray.  You can buy Blu- Ray discs with 3D as well as 2D options.

Before you go out and buy any 3D discs, though, it is important to learn about the 3D HD TV sets that will be on sale.  The initial pricing for these sets is between £1,000 and £4,000, where the price difference is based solely on the size of the television.  The larger the screen you purchase the more it will cost.  Philips, Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, LG, and other television manufacturers are moving to get lower cost 3D TVs on the market, while they release their first products in April 2010 and the next few months.  Some companies like Sony are holding back from the initial launch date to perfect the television a little more.  But, you can bet they will have their 3D product out by the end of the year.

The advent of 3D TV is going to move the HDTV market into the future, but also make it more affordable in the next decade.  You should expect most of the HDTVs on sale now to be sold for half of their original costs, if not more.  They will definitely be more portable, thinner, and cheaper because technology and demand are working together.

It is possible that you will begin to upgrade your current box TV for an HDTV this year.  After all, they will be cheaper, but you should also consider trying the 3D technology.  Many stores are placing their displays on the floor now, so you can test out the different manufacturers.  Even though there is a high price for this technology this is where the television industry is going in the next decade.

As the televisions sell the glasses needed to watch 3D will become cheaper, you will find the programming will become more prolific and more and more homes will have 3D.  Projections for 3D TVs to sell are in the millions already for the United Kingdom alone.  Each manufacturer is using a certain amount of the same technology, but there are definite differences.  You can find LED or LCD screens, but it seems plasma is coming to an end because companies are not going to offer those screens in 3D.  LED technology is the latest invention and supposedly it will last longer than LCD, which might have a bearing on the 3D HD you purchase.
